Product Information

Years before Dragon Ball became all the rage with anime fans ... years before anime existed in America, Bandai localized its first Famicom version of Dragon Ball into what was released stateside as Dragon Power. In an effort to make the game more market friendly to the fledgling NES crowd, almost everything that made the game "Dragon Ball" was changed -- character designs and names were American'ized (Goku was given a haircut, a big smiley face and a headband to fit more into the assumed image of an '80s karate man), text was completely redone to be corny and more for kids, and the horny fan service was cut out.

Even though the game was released years before DB and DBZ was even known to America, fans of the Dragon Ball series now see the conversion as an insult to the anime. However, the original game still suffered from dreadful graphics and control.
